Set in 1939 London, Miss Pettigrew stars Frances McDormand as the film's titular character, Miss Guinevere Pettigrew, a recently unemployed middle-aged governess. The film follows her as she responds to an ad for work as a "social secretary" and is catapulted into the glamorous world of famous American actress and singer, Delysia Lafosse (Amy Adams).
