Movie City: Baghdad

In FilmInFocus's Movie City series, we travel the globe to see what film means in different cities around the world. This month we go to Iraq. In "Crash Course: Making Movies on the Rooftops of Baghdad," Anthony Kaufman looks at how a new generation of Iraqi filmmakers are literally making history on the streets and rooftops of Baghdad. Hollywood types often toss the word "brave" around when discussing each others' projects, but in this case the adjective seems hardly up to the job in describing these would-be filmmakers. In other pieces we piece together a history of Iraqi cinema, and highlight films made about the current conflict.
