Train Like Tatum

Channing Tatum

Channing Tatum in The Eagle

In an exclusive from the set of The Eagle, FilmInFocus publishes the training schedule of the movie’s star, Channing Tatum.

One of the most anticipated titles of 2010, Kevin Macdonald’s adaptation of Rosemary Sutcliff’s Roman adventure novel The Eagle, is currently in production, and will be shooting on location over the next few months in Hungary and Scotland.

The film’s lead actor is Channing Tatum, who has starred in three movies already this year, Fighting, Public Enemies and G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. Tatum, who cut his teeth in the very popular movies Step Up and Step Up 2: The Streets, is known for his fit physique and the physicality he brings to roles, so FilmInFocus asked him to share with us his training schedule for the movie.

Below, you can see how his work-out regime for the week prior to shooting, as he hit peak fitness to play the role of Marcus Aquila, the young centurion on a quest to discover what happened to his father’s legion, which seemingly disappeared in Northern Britain. And if you follow this exercise schedule – regular running, horse riding, chariot racing, sword fighting, and hand-to-hand combat – you too could be ready to face the grueling challenges of being a soldier in the Roman army. Or a physically superior movie star.
