Patrick Martin, 20, was born and raised in Atlanta. He is currently at Georgia State University majoring in Film &Video and has been a projectionist for the United Artists Tara 4 theater for the past two years. He loves writing and filming. People are his inspiration.
Patrick: Hmm... summer. Cool breezes in overwhelming heat, short trips to the ocean, and of course no school. When I think of summer these are the films that come to mind (hopefully some less cliché than the rest).
"The Big Bambino." I don't think I've ever gone a summer without watching this (still have it on VHS... oh yeah). Baseball and kids getting into trouble, what more could you ask for?
Other than having a wonderful story and characters, I'll admit that this film also ignites bits and pieces of a personal fantasy of mine. I would never pass up the chance to take a beautiful, older lady on a trip to an isolated beach, as long as my best friend isn't there.
This film takes place on the hottest day of summer. Important social issues are presented in a dangerously comical story. Even next to an ice-cold air conditioner, it can make you feel heated.
I remember watching it in the summer. Brilliant and devastating. Wonderful actors and a compelling plot. Sometimes it would be nice to wake up all alone (cause then you could walk around naked).
To start, I'm a huge fan of Stephen King. Growing up is an adventure experienced differently by everyone, so it feels great to sit back and enjoy the adventures of others.
