As part of NBC Universal’s Green Week, FilmInFocus presents a special Five in Focus in which filmmakers offers greener ways to make movies.
No Plastic Water
We all need to drink a certain amount of water whether in the office or on a film set. If you can provide filtered water, that’s a big plus.
Light Bulbs
In the office, energy saving light bulbs and fixtures can use much less energy. When leaving the office, turn off your computer and the power strip it’s plugged into as well as the light!
Recycle Paper
Paper = Trees. Try and buy recycled paper and get into the habit of printing on the back of it as well. A bad script might hide a good one on the back!
Buy Local
Eat local and encourage the growth of small local farmers when throwing parties or gatherings.
Solar Roofs and Electric Cars
And for the big studios in LA: Install solar panels so all your office electricity is generated by solar energy. And purchase by 2010 a couple of electric cars so your employee can leave their car in the lot and attend meetings in pollution free cars.
