I'm not a great watcher of romantic comedies, but Kate Winslet is a favorite of mine. I love all things British, and I love Jude Law when his hair is behaving. Juxtaposing LA and a small English village is lovely as I have experience living in both. Solid film.

There is a line in this movie, when Reese Witherspoon's character is overwhelmed with the country fried behavior of her family, and she says "People need a passport to come down here." I was raised in a small rural community, and can totally relate. There’s far too much hoopla about weddings, but the observations on what its like to "go home" are spot on.

I don't know if this is technically romantic or not, but there’s love and sex and it makes me laugh, so it’s making my list. Katherine Heigl is convincingly anal, and Seth Rogen is loveable and hilarious. Also, I am a fan of realistic and less picturesque endings.

Julia Roberts is great in this. Cameron Diaz sings horrific karaoke and our heroine ends up alone. Add a token gay best friend and you have a formulaic romantic comedy that I can get behind. Truly.

This is officially my favorite romantic comedy. It fulfills all my guilty pleasure criteria: London, the holidays, half-naked Spanish male models, and a wet Colin Firth. The storylines are original and the cast is stellar. Also: Bill Nighy is a sexy beast.
